How to produce fuel in your house

Diesel is the biggest money making business in Nigeria, and it is an opportunity to dive into. The best, safest and most preferable is bio-diesel, this is because it is a clean burning alternative to petroleum diesel. It can be made from domestic renewable or raw materials such as; vegetable oil, recycled cooking oil and animal fats. It is more economical as it provides less noise, smoke and more environmentally friendly.

a. Algae plant (it grows near stagnant water)
b. Vegetable oil from JATROPAH plant
c. Soybeans (it is a good source of vegetable)
d. Sun flower another potential plant (found in ondo)
e. Used oil (groundnut oil or vegetable oil)

After you have gotten your cheap oil (vegetable or groundnut oil), it is mixed with methanol + lye (e.g. potassium or sodium hydroxide obtained locally).

Raw materials needed

- vegetable oil - pan (container)
- straight vegetable oil(SVO) - stove or cooker
- waste vegetable oil -eye goggles
- animal fat -hand gloves

- potassium chloride or sodium hydroxide - nose mask
- blender
- methanol
- isopropyl
- water

Advantages of producing bio-fuel

-It makes less noise

-It does not stain

-It is non-toxic

-It has less effect on living things (e.g. man, animals and plants).

Steps in producing bio-fuel
-First of all get your vegetable oil (used or fresh)
-filter the oil
-mix it with methanol
-mix with potassium chloride or sodium hydroxide
-make sure you mix it for like 30 minutes
-use blender for proper mixture
-leave it for like 8-10 hours to settle
-You would then see Glycerin and Bio-diesel
-you should pour out the top part (bio-diesel)
